Discovering El Cabron Cantina
Family, Fresh, and Flavourful

When you step into the intimate El Cabron Cantina, you immediately feel welcome. Located a couple of blocks south of Concession, at 310 Crockett Street, with plenty of street parking, this genuine Latino restaurant serves handmade, fresh and tasty dishes with influences from Guatemala, Columbia and Mexico.
Owner, Daniel Torres, can share his family’s stories and his connection to food here and back in Guatemala. His mother still runs a restaurant there.
After working with his sister in the family’s first Canadian restaurant, a busy taco place in Milton, he was ready for his own restaurant and chose Hamilton as he felt there was an opportunity for an authentic Latino connection and representation.
With his oldest daughter Chanel helping daily and his triplet daughters, Danielle, Kira and Kayden, working there after school and on weekends, it is wonderful to see the family and food heritage continuing for another generation in a local small business.

The Papusa (a cornmeal or rice flour flatbread usually stuffed with refried beans, shredded pork or cheese) is El Salvador’s national dish and an introduction to the menu and flavours to come. The tacos were fresh and tasty with the option to add your preferred spice level. The empanadas were all made from scratch and arrived hot and not at all greasy. And if you love plantains, try their Platanos con Frijoles.
When having the burrito bowl as a takeout dish, Chanel’s tip was to give it a shake to mix all the fresh ingredients, which it made fun and the mixed contents popped with flavour.
Save room for the Tres Leches (a three-milk sponge cake), made by one of the younger daughters. It’s light and a lovely way to end the meal. The Horchata (cinnamon rice milk) is unique, surprisingly delicious and likely something you have never had before!
Nearly everything on the menu is gluten-free and there are several veggie options.
Daniel plans to rotate the menu often and will be bringing more of the best of beef and fish with plans for a patio and BBQ. Take-out delivery services have been added and a licensed drinks menu is coming soon along with cocktails. The food is well presented and pricing was very reasonable with food for three coming to under $60.

At El Cabron Cantina, the Vibe is Family, Fresh and Flavourful and service that always comes with a smile. With a true passion and love of food and people, it’s clear that this is more than just a restaurant, it’s a genuine Latino experience.
