Discovering: Greek City Grill

High Quality, Generous Portions

Kalí órexi or good appetite! - which is what you need when visiting the Greek City Grill because the portions are generous. There will be leftovers for your next meal!

This is a true mom-and-pop restaurant. John and his wife Merha run the whole show - ”This is everyone”, they laughed when we visited and also met their young son and daughter.  John has been in the local restaurant business - initially at a pizzeria then for a few years at a Greek kitchen with his brother - but is now proud to start on his own with Merha at the Greek City Grill

Although John is originally from Greece and Merha from Iraq, they are now proud Canadians and showed us how they source their food locally. John also shared his values - choosing the highest quality food supplies - “Top of the line gyros!”, he said.

The atmosphere is casual with booths, table service, Greek music and decor. The location is quickly accessible via Mud Street off the link or via Upper Centennial.  There is ample parking. Service is quick and friendly. Bathrooms are non-gendered. The restaurant is clean.

The food was well explained and Mehra was flexible with our requested substitutions.

We had the chicken souvlaki salad - large tender moist pieces of Ontario chicken breasts that have been marinated in spices for a few days and topped onto a Greek or Caesar salad $25

The gyro is huge with ample tasty meat in a large, chewy, fresh warm pita $15

We scooped up fresh tzatziki with a smaller-sized pita which was well-seasoned and warm and crisp from the grill.

We could not resist ordering some chicken shawarma to try - which is a combo of smaller pieces of well-seasoned and marinated dark and white chicken.

And of course, we had the Greek potatoes - slow baked with lemon, oregano, and lemon $12 and baklava $9 which was made with real honey.

At Greek City Grill, the Vibe is high quality, generous portions - Efharistó (thank you) John and Merha.
